Position Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Recreation, the Waterfront Supervisor oversees the performance of the Waterfront staff, communicates organizational needs, provides guidance, support and coordination of daily operation and activities at the Waterfront. Activities include, but are not limited to, class and private lessons, staff scheduling, boat rentals (sailboats, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards), and special events. The supervisor is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the Waterfront, the dock operations, Kiddie Pool, Splash Pad, Facility and grounds. This position is the primary liaison between season staff and the Director of Recreation, VP of Programming.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the mission of Lakeside Chautauqua and a culture of belonging at the Waterfront and Sailing Center
- Supervise all department staff and coordinate staff schedules to support rental operations, sailing programs, lessons, and events.
- Oversee Sailing Center/Waterfront daily operations, programs, special events, including lessons and clinics, and special groups programming (WOW, SOS)
- Assist Program Coordinator with programs, as needed.
- Possess knowledge in boat maintenance, operation and know the safety rules for watercraft.
- Perform rigging and sail a Sunfish, operate Kayaks and Paddleboards
- Coordinate a minimum of 2 hours every 30 days of documented EAP, first aid and customer service scenarios with Sailing and Waterfront Staff, Safety and Security Services and Director of Recreation and Wellness.
- Attend Supervisor meetings weekly with Director of Recreation.
- Coordinate and ensure that all scheduling of sailing lessons, paddleboard classes, other waterfront programs and activities are delivered with accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with waterfront staff to maintain accurate participant information for all classes and programs.
- Provides excellent customer service to ensure high quality experience, encourage repeat visitors and community participation in programs and events
- Oversee the waterfront, Sailing Center, and dock areas; serve as the Safety Area Coordinator for the waterfront; conduct facility safety checklists regularly
- Organize and supervise daily/regular cleaning and maintenance of all waterfront facilities, Splash Park and beach area (such as seaweed, trash, sweeping sand)
- Effectively carry out Emergency Action Plan and skillfully respond to all first aid situations
- Review and sign off on all incident reports and submit them to the Director of Recreation and HR within the same day
- Communicate and coordinate all weather and emergency related closures of dock, waterfront, kiddie pool, splash pad with Safety and Security Department, Director of Recreation
- Ensure that all certificates for Waterfront location, Health Department and staff are current and on file in the main office.
- Oversee that all Lakeside Chautauqua, Departmental, and Facilities (including dock) rules and regulations are adhered to; Interact with facility and watercraft users to ensure safe utilization and adherence to policies and procedures
- Maintain required signage stating safety rules, swimming hours and regulations
- Maintain an inventory of all sailboats, swimming/safety equipment and first aid supplies
- Maintain staff rotations and break periods as needed
- Conduct mid- and end of season employee evaluations with Director of Recreation
- Assist with boat storage agreements; coordinate with Waterfront/Information Center staff to ensure all watercraft are stored correctly and safely
- Ensure a safe facility and waterfront atmosphere for all guests and employees of the waterfront
- Work to ensure all facilities and equipment are clean, organized and in good working conditions. Communicate immediately any facility maintenance, equipment needs or work orders
- Ensures customer relations and satisfaction are of highest priority and work to resolve all related issues tactfully, effectively, in a timely manner.
- Complete, record and communicate daily chemical checks on Kiddie Pool and Splash Pad.
- Complete and maintain accurate participant information for all programs. Coordinates and ensures that all scheduling of lessons, programs, events, etc. is done accurately and efficiently
- File accurate financial records of all fees collected – if applicable
- Collaborate with Maintenance in coordinating opening and closing tasks each season
- Communicates immediately any facility maintenance or equipment needs or work orders
Other duties as assigned by Director of Recreation
Qualifications:
- Certification in Basic Life Saving (CPR/First Aid/AED)
- Lifeguard certification, U.S. Sailing Instructor certification.
or experience in water rescue and First Aid is a plus is preferred
- Must hold or obtain an Ohio Boating Safety Education Certification
- Min 3 years supervisor or coaching experience preferred
- Requires working knowledge of water safety, safe boating practices for all watercrafts including kayaks, paddleboards, sunfish sailboats, and power boat handling of chase boats
- Strong ability to motivate and lead staff and students
- Knowledge and experience in staff supervision
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills
