- Maintains master patient index by completing an assigned portion of the daily audit trail.
- Initiates the medical record by creating and processing the patient care record folder.
- Maintains record availability by processing charts into the digital patient database.
- Retrieves medical records by following chart-out procedures.
- Delivers charts to assigned areas of the hospital by following established routing procedures.
- Keeps health care providers informed by communicating the availability of requested records.
- Maintains quality results by following hospital guidelines and standards.
- Serves and protects the hospital or facility’s community by adhering to federal, state, and local guidelines.
- Strong organizational and office technology skills
- Knowledge of HIPPA and client confidentiality laws
- Exceptional bedside manners
- Proficient in medical terminology
- Comfortable in collaborating with healthcare professionals
- Detail-oriented
- Gather patient demographic and personal information.
- Issue medical files to persons and agencies according to laws and regulations.
- Help with departmental audits and investigations.
- Distribute medical charts to the appropriate departments of the hospital.
- Maintain quality and accurate records by following hospital procedures.
- Ensure patient charts, paperwork, and reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Make sure all medical records are protected and kept confidential.
- File all patients' medical records and information.
- Supply the nursing department with the appropriate documents and forms.
- Completes clerical duties including answering phones, responding to emails, and processing patient admission and discharge records.
- Other Duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Advanced understanding of medical terminology and administration processes.
- Proficient in information management programs and MS Office.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
