POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Director is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of all facility systems, equipment, and infrastructure. This leadership position requires a proactive approach to ensure that all facilities remain safe, operational, and well-maintained. The Maintenance Director will lead a team of maintenance staff, coordinate with contractors and vendors, and manage budgets for repairs, improvements, and preventative maintenance.
Core Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
Supervise, train, and manage a team of maintenance/custodial staff, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety standards.
Create work schedules, assign tasks, and monitor the progress of maintenance/custodial activities.
Provide ongoing coaching and support for maintenance/custodial team members, fostering professional development.
Ensure staff comply with safety and district policies.
Coordinate with administration to prioritize and schedule maintenance/custodial requests.
Preventative & Routine Maintenance:
Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive preventative maintenance program to reduce the frequency of equipment breakdowns and costly repairs.
Perform regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify and resolve potential issues before they cause disruptions.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety and environmental standards.
Maintain and enforce safety procedures, ensuring that all maintenance staff follow proper protocols when using equipment or working in hazardous conditions.
Perform regular safety audits and address any risks or violations.
Ensure that building codes, fire codes, and other compliance regulations are consistently met.
Qualifications:
Experience in maintenance/custodial or facilities management, including supervisory or leadership experience.
Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Valid driver’s license (for any on-site visits or travel, if required).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy objects, carry tools, and equipment as needed.
Comfortable with physical tasks, such as standing for extended periods, bending, and lifting.
Work Environment:
The role may involve both office and on-site work, including exposure to maintenance areas and possible hazardous conditions (e.g., working with electrical equipment, high temperatures, or heights).
Salary:
Salary ranges from a minimum ($53,402) to a maximum ($64,059) based on the 24/25 SY salary schedule for a 260 day contract. Pay will be determined by experience and certifications.
