- Create an inclusive and culturally responsive curriculum that encourages creativity, collaboration, risk-taking, and critical thinking
- Create organized and engaging lesson plans that include additional challenges for each day
- Order and organize supplies as necessary
- Supervise and instruct a diverse group of students that have different educational backgrounds and experiences
- Train and supervise the assigned high-school counselor, who serves as a classroom teaching assistant
- Provide individual support and adapt different teaching strategies for students needing additional instruction
- Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. The candidate will understand different perspectives; interact respectfully with cultures other than their own; and cultivate meaningful relationships with people that have different cultural frameworks.
- Prior experience teaching a diverse middle-school, high-school, or college-level student population; demonstrated equity and inclusion mindset. Candidates should be aware of their own identity and biases; candidate actively works to create an inclusive classroom environment.

- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, master’s degree in relevant field preferred
- Experience with inclusive and multicultural curriculum development
- Candidates must satisfactorily complete at least two criminal background checks.

Summer at Lakeside is currently recruiting for a Middle School Makerspace teacher to teach two weeks of “Makerspace: Intro to Entrepreneurship” and two weeks of “Makerspace: Architecture and Engineering” at our Investigative Learning Camp, an academic and experiential summer camp designed for students entering grades 5-8. Curriculum development and daily activities will be designed by the teacher. The Investigative Learning Camp (ILC) offers students the opportunity to take classes covering STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) -based topics. All courses encourage creative play and hands-on learning; courses are project-based and do not assume students have any previous knowledge of the subject matter. No homework is assigned.Summer School
These courses run afternoons, 12:30 – 3:30 p.m., July 7-Aug.1. There will be a mandatory orientation meeting on Wednesday, July 2. Visit our Investigative Learning Camp webpage to read more about this camp, including descriptions of the courses offered for summer 2025.

The stipend for this position is $4,000. Lunch is included. The course may only run if enough students register. Enrollment will remain open until June 1. If the number of students enrolled is too small to run by June 1, or if the course is canceled for any reason, the stipend will not be paid. Summer at Lakeside also oers free Investigative Learning Camp enrollment for children (entering Gr.3-8) of summer employees during the weeks they are working. The Investigative Learning Camp runs July 7-Aug.1.
