Summary of Responsibilities
The maintenance parts room assistance maintains the inventory of repair parts stored in the maintenance parts room. They inventory and order spare parts and maintain the cleanliness of the maintenance parts room.
Essential Functions
1. Receives, stores, and issues spare and replacement parts, equipment, and expendable items used in repair or maintenance shop.
2. Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
3. Receive and count stock items, and record data manually or using computer.
4. Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
5. Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
6. Issue or distribute materials, products, parts, and supplies to maintenance associates, based on information from incoming requisitions.
7. Provide assistance or direction to other stockroom workers.
8. Dispose of damaged or defective items, or return them to vendors.
9. Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
10. Recommend disposal of excess, defective, or obsolete stock.
11. Keep records on the use or damage of stock or stock-handling equipment.
12. Prepare and maintain records and reports of inventories, price lists, shortages, shipments, expenditures, and goods used or issued.
13. Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facility.
14. Compile, review, and maintain data from contracts, purchase orders, requisitions, and other documents to assess supply needs.
15. Determine sequence and release of back orders according to stock availability.
16. Purchase new or additional stock, or prepare documents that provide for such purchases.
Other Functions
1. Must be able to ambulate within and outside plant as necessary.
2. Must be able to professionally and appropriately interact with other Company associates, outside vendors and customers.
3. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Working Conditions
- Working almost exclusively in a food manufacturing atmosphere and also in maintenance and shop areas, marked by close quarters, proximity and interaction with other employees and machinery.
- Exposure to moisture and various commodities.
- No overtime without the approval of Supervisor.
Job Qualifications
- Prior experience as tool room or parts attendant.
- Good mathematical and computer skills.
- Must be able to professionally and appropriately interact with other Company associates, outside vendors, and customers.
- Highly dependable.
- Good organizational skills.
- Valid Drivers License
