What are the responsibilities and job description for the HOUSEKEEPER position at Lakeview Specialty Hosp?
To ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic environment throughout the hospital and residential facility by performing thorough cleaning, waste management, and infection control duties while supporting overall operational efficiency and maintaining positive relationships with staff and departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean all areas of the building including but not limited to: Lobbies, Conference rooms, Restrooms, Elevators, Stairwells, Offices, Breakrooms, Treatment Rooms, Patient/Client rooms in hospital and residential, Classrooms, Copy rooms, Hotel rooms, Dining Room, Hallways, Laundry rooms, Therapy rooms, Dialysis, Pharmacy, Training areas, Day rooms, Gymnasium, Auditorium, and windows.
- Maintain floors using dust mops, wet mops, brooms, floor scrubbers, vacuums, carpet cleaners, etc.
- Clean all surfaces within the building including but not limited to: Walls, Floors, Windows, Furniture, Bathroom surfaces, Doors, Light switch covers, Counters, Garbage containers, Picture frames, Windowsills, Cubicle and shower curtains, etc.
- Clean up hazardous spills using a spill kit.
- Collect and properly dispose of waste materials, hazardous materials, and recycling.
- Collect and properly handle soiled linen for in house laundering or for linen service.
- Collect all trash from all areas of the building and take in covered bin outside to trash compactor.
- Properly put away deliveries of supplies or linens.
- Deliver linens to units following biosecurity practices.
- Replenish bathroom supplies and respond to requests from other departments.
- Properly use, store, and maintain chemicals.
- Report any chemical spills to Director of Environment of Care
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment as needed.
- Follow all infection control measures implemented by the facility.
- Terminally clean all patient rooms as they become available.
- Fill out and properly file all housekeeping/Janitor paperwork including but not limited to: Daily Room Cleaning Checklists, Terminal Cleaning Checklist, "Room Cleaned By" sign, etc.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships and two-way communication with other departments.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals.
- Speak with others using clear and professional language.
- Attend formal training/education to improve and/or advance position skills.
- Report any non-compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations to supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Manager or Director of EVS.
- May be trained as backup when the primary lead(s) are out of the building.
Qualifications:
Skill, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Attention to detail
- Understand and follow written and verbal communications
- Able to read and write in English
- Understanding of difference between visibly clean and microscopically clean
- Ability to rotate shifts and days off as required to perform assignments
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of clients
- Emotional stability necessary to perform essential functions in client areas
- Time management skills and ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
Education: Prefer high school diploma or equivalency.
Licensure: None required. Prefer Lysol, NEHA or Clorox training certification.
Experience: Prefer - One year experience, preferably in a healthcare, hotel housekeeping, or School Custodian position.
