What are the responsibilities and job description for the ANTICIPATED INTERVENTION SPECIALIST position at Lakewood Elementary School?
Qualifications:
1.Shall meet appropriate certification/licensing requirements as governed by Ohio law.
2.Shall meet requirements for employment governed by federal and state laws i.e., BCII check (FBI check, if individual has not lived in Ohio for more than 5 years), and ODE required hours of early education approved training.
General Description:The major role of the Intervention Specialist is to provide developmentally appropriate educational opportunities for assigned students with disabilities and to effectively address the exceptional and individual strengths and needs of assigned students and to provide information to their parents.
Performance Responsibilities:
1.Attend ETR and IEP conferences as requested by the building principal and/or program director for assigned students with disabilities.
2. Develop IEPs for each assigned student based on his/her current assessment data and needs.
3. Assess the student's progress with both informal and formal assessment and/or evaluation instruments.
4. Prepare and implement lesson plans based on the student's
individual education plan (IEP), student needs and strengths and program curriculum in class and/or at the student's home educational setting.
5. Maintain appropriate student discipline and an atmosphere conducive to learning.
6. Supervise or provide for the effective supervision of students during the time they are at school classroom, hallways, lunch, gym, playground, field trip, etc.
7. Complete and maintain necessary assigned forms, student reports and attendance records, correspondence and other necessary data.
8. Maintain effective communication and contact with the student's parents/guardians, and other involved agencies as required e.g., home visits, collaborative team meetings, IAT meetings, etc. and to keep them informed of student's progress.
9. Design and implement a developmentally appropriate program to effectively meet student needs and enhance student strengths.
10. Work cooperatively with an instructional aide and other intervention staff to provide quality programming.
11.Attend appropriate conferences, workshops, meetings as needed and/or requested by the building principal or director
12.Maintain confidentiality of student and family records according to board policy and FERPA regulations.
13.Ensure classroom equipment is properly maintained and classroom space is a healthy environment for assigned students. Procure supplies through established procedures and use effectively.
14. Complete required online Public School Works classes.
