About the Department
The Activities/Enrichment Team at Lakewood Care Center designs and organizes a variety of engaging events and programs to enhance residents' quality of life. They focus on promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being through activities such as arts and crafts, music therapy, exercise sessions, social events, games, and outings. Their goal is to create a stimulating, supportive environment where residents feel connected, active, and valued.
Mission for Position
The mission of an Activity Specialist is to enhance residents' well-being by organizing and facilitating engaging activities that promote social, physical, and emotional health.
Duties & Responsibilities
Our primary focus with residents is to encourage social interaction, stimulate cognitive functions, and provide opportunities for creativity and enjoyment. Their goal is to create a supportive, compassionate environment where residents feel valued, connected, and empowered. This position will primarily focus on activities, but will also assist with transfers, personal care, and other support tasks as part of the daily activity programs.
Position Type
- Casual- Pick-up 1 shift per month.
Qualifications
- At least grade school education, prefer high school diploma or GED.
- Valid drivers license.
- Maintains therapeutic boundaries with patients.
Ideal Candidate
- Ability to problem-solve.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to organize, coordinate and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers both verbally and in writing.
- Willing to fill in for other activity staff while they are on vacation or ill.
- Willing to work extra hours on special occasions.
- Computer knowledge.
- Experience in geriatrics desirable.
