Program Director - New Emergency Medicine Residency Program

Graduate Medical Education is growing in Florida with the addition of a New Emergency Medicine residency program at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center in Lakewood Ranch, FL. We are seeking a clinician educator and collaborative leader with at least three years of experience in a leadership role in resident education. The program director will lead the program including the 2025 ACGME application process for a July 2026 program start.
This is an excellent opportunity to help establish a new GME program on the West Coast of Florida and to make a difference in the community by training new physicians and partnering in our mission of delivering the highest quality of care and positive outcomes to patients and families. The program is affiliated with a 190-bed community hospital and medical center that consistently meets or exceeds all CMS metrics in terms of quality, patient safety and overall patient satisfaction.
The ideal program director candidate will be passionate about resident education. The position will include direct patient care in our Emergency Department and require the skills for collaborative leadership, clinical education, excellence in administration, interpersonal communication skills, operations, and organization in a supportive training environment.
Opportunity highlights:
- Program Director for new Emergency Medicine residency program
- Initially a Consulting role transitioning to .5 FTE as Program Director, with remainder in clinical practice

Position requirements:
- Current board certification by the ABEM/AOBEM and specialty expertise
- Recent PD or Associate PD experience strongly preferred
- 3 years of recent documented educational and/or administrative experience in an accredited GME program
- Demonstrated ability as a leader, educator, and clinician
- Recent history of scholarly activities/research
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
