Food Service Aides provides assistant in all nutrition service functions as directed by the Director of Food Service in accordance with the center’s standards and procedures, federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations. Assists with providing nourishing, attractive, well-balanced meals and a pleasant dining experience. Must follow company policies and procedures.

Requirements for Food Service Aides:
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Requires demonstrated knowledge and ability in food service preparation and clean up. Verbal and written English communication skills. Position requires prolonged standing, frequent bending, walking, stooping, lifting, stretching, moving heavy items, and lifting/ carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Previous long term care experience or institutional food service preferred.
- Certificate/Licenses: Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
Essential Job Functions: The employee must be able to perform, including but not limited to, these essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation by the employer, without posing a direct threat to him/her or to others.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure all food procedures are followed.
- Prepares food using proper food handling and safety techniques
- Maintains proper temperature of food during preparation and service
- Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties in food service department
- Assist in serving meals, beverages, and special items on a timely manner.
- Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and orderly manner.
- Label, dates, and stores food properly
- Maintain a clean sanitary work area
- Maintain clean kitchen Equipment
- Prepare dining room for service
- Perform dishwashing service and cleaning procedures
- Prepare and deliver snacks as directed
- Assure safety and health regulations are being followed
- Report any complaints to supervisor.
- Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to supervisor
- Report any abuse immediately to supervisor.
- Assist in food preparation for special meals or events.
- Maintain Confidentiality of all resident’s information to assure residents rights are protected
- Report all work related injuries to supervisor.
- Transport all food carts in a safe and proper manner.
- Wear proper work attire including hair nets and badges.
- Practice safe work habits.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
