JOB GOAL: The Assistant School Business Administrator will support the Business Adminstrator in the responsibility for all non-instructional services, and administers the business affairs of the district in such a way as to provide the best educational services within the scope of the financial resources available.
Performance Responsibilities
The Assistant School Business Administrator will:
Twelve month contract. Salary for the successful candidate will be negotiated and determined based upon proven experience and qualifications.

Qualifications/ Certification
- Master's Degree
- NJ certification as School Business Administrator, or eligible for same
- A minimum of three (3) years administrative experience in a public school system
- CPA Certificate/CPA experience may be substituted for years' experience as Assistant School Business Adminstrator
- Such alternatives as the superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable

Performance Responsibilities
The Assistant School Business Administrator will:
- General duties for the school district Business Office as may be assigned by the School Business Administrator.
- Perform duties of the School Business Administrator when that position is vacant and also during short absences of the School Business Administrator.
- Assist the School Business Administrator in the general business operations, fiscal responsibilities and operational responsibilities of the Lakewood School District Business Office.
- Oversee and provide support to the payroll operation and the accounts payable operation in the school district Business Office.
- Assist the School Business Administrator with ongoing review of Business Office practices and implementation of changes recommended by auditors or needed for compliance with fiscal requirements mandated by the New Jersey Department of Education and for increase in the efficiency and reliability of the Lakewood School District Business Office.
- Consult with school administrators and department supervisors regarding issues related to funding and finances.
- Assist the School Business Administrator in preparation of the annual school district budget.
- Coordination and preparation of financial records for the annual school district audit performed by the Board appointed auditors of the Lakewood School District.
- Oversee the School District's computerized general ledger system.
- Prepare information set forth in the Board Secretary's report required by State Board regulations and the report of the Treasurer of School Monies. Review and reconcile said reports.
- Oversee operation of bank accounts for School District athletic funds, elementary school student body activities and other similar school district accounts controlled by school district personnel.
- Perform other tasks and assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent or by his or her designee.
- Oversees and audits the food service operation.
- Maintain membership in the New Jersey Association of School Business Officials and in Ocean County Association.
- Attend county roundtables for district business officials, if requested by the School Business Administrator.
- Maintain and improve professional competence through pertinent workshops, seminars and publications.
- Examine and audit all school district accounts and review payment demands made against the Board of Education.
- Make reports to the School Business Administrator on accounting operations of the District and make recommendations for changes and improvements as necessary.
