Position Summary
As the Senior Electrical Technical/Design Reviewer, you will serve as the Owner’s subject matter expert and quality assurance lead for all electrical scope on a large-scale design-build project. You will be responsible for independently reviewing, analyzing, and validating electrical system designs submitted by the design-build contractor to ensure compliance with performance requirements, operational goals, applicable codes, and industry best practices.
This position plays a critical role in protecting the Owner’s interests by proactively identifying and mitigating technical risks, improving constructability, and ensuring the project delivers long-term value in electrical infrastructure, reliability, and energy efficiency.

As the Senior Electrical Technical/Design Reviewer, you will serve as the Owner’s subject matter expert and quality assurance lead for all electrical scope on a large-scale design-build project. You will be responsible for independently reviewing, analyzing, and validating electrical system designs submitted by the design-build contractor to ensure compliance with performance requirements, operational goals, applicable codes, and industry best practices.
This position plays a critical role in protecting the Owner’s interests by proactively identifying and mitigating technical risks, improving constructability, and ensuring the project delivers long-term value in electrical infrastructure, reliability, and energy efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed technical reviews of electrical design drawings, specifications, calculations, and narratives from conceptual through construction documents
- Validate conformance with project performance requirements, Owner’s Project Requirements, and applicable codes (NEC, IEEE, NFPA, UL, ASHRAE, etc.)
- Review electrical system layout and capacity, including power distribution, emergency systems, lighting, fire alarm, grounding, low-voltage systems, and backup power
- Evaluate designs for energy efficiency, safety, maintainability, scalability, and integration with other building systems
- Act as a liaison between the Owner and the design-builder’s electrical engineers, addressing technical questions and resolving design concerns
- Collaborate with mechanical, structural, and architectural reviewers for integrated system coordination
- Represent the Owner in design review meetings, technical workshops, and design charrettes
- Review and provide feedback on electrical submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, substitutions, and value engineering proposals
- Participate in factory acceptance testing, site inspections, and witness commissioning activities to ensure installation aligns with design intent
- Assist in verifying the integration of building automation and energy monitoring systems into the electrical infrastructure
Education & Licensure
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- LEED, PMP, or additional industry certifications preferred
- 10 years of progressive experience in electrical design, including at least 5 years of QA/QC or technical review experience on large, complex projects
- Demonstrated experience with design-build or integrated delivery methods
- Expert-level knowledge of electrical systems and code compliance
- Skilled in interpreting and evaluating technical documentation with a focus on constructability and operational performance
- Proficiency with software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, etc
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of producing clear, actionable review comments, and presenting findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
