JOB DESCRIPTION:
Primary Purpose
To develop, maintain, schedule, and coordinate the District’s routing network fleet in support of all district approved programs and transportation related services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major Responsibilities and Duties
1. Develop, schedule, and monitor all district routes which support district programs and needs including extended day and extended year programs for all students.
2. Manage all aspects of the District’s extracurricular program and activities as related to transportation support and services.
3. Review and update route folders.
4. Maintain and update all route information and changes in a timely manner using software applications provided by the District.
5. Supervise and direct the designated color track driver and aide assignments.
6. Responsible for the state route/count preparation and collection of the assigned transportation color track.
7. Supervise and evaluate assigned color track driver and aide assignments.
8. Substitute on bus routes as needed or required.
9. Assist substitute drivers with route information.
10. Monitor and assist drivers and aides regarding operational procedures.
11. Communicate route related information to members of the community and all district employees in a timely and efficient manner.
12. Notify campuses of route information changes.
13. Perform checks and observations as needed.
14. Attendance at work is an essential function.
15. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Experience:
- Two years of experience driving a school bus required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred
- Valid Texas Class B CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) Endorsements
- Eligible for coverage under the Districts vehicle insurance program
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of Lamar CISD Pupil Transportation system preferred
- Ability to read and understand instructions for transportation and safety procedures
- Demonstrate proficiency in typing, data entry, word processing, Microsoft Suite applications and all computer software available to support Bus Fleet Operations
- Ability to effectively direct and manage personnel
- Ability to receive and give written and verbal instructions

School bus and related equipment, computers and technology related equipment.
Working Conditions
Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over), reaching above shoulders, use of fingers, walking, operation of a motor vehicle, specific visual requirements (driving), specific hearing requirements (driving, phone and oral conversations).
Outside and inside; excessive heat, cold and/or humidity; excessive dampness or chilling, excessive noise (intermittent), dust; fumes, smoke, or gases; solvents (degreasing agents), grease and oils, unusual fatigue factors (long hours sitting at computer).
