JOB DESCRIPTION:
Primary Purpose: The person in this position will be responsible for providing support to students and parents in effective college and career planning. Coordinating the transition of LCISD graduates into academic and/or business endeavors is the main goal of this position. Educational Plans of Study and transition of students from high school to college and careers will be supported by the facilitator and they will work as a liaison between the school district and post-secondary choices to aide in this transition.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Sponsor and/or supervise extracurricular and co-curricular activities to promote student goal setting, career planning and transition to post-secondary education and training.
- Coordinate with district personnel for the development of a comprehensive career plan for students, including high school coursework and transition to post-secondary education/training.
- Work with students and parents to disseminate information about career plans.
- Guide students as they plan, monitor, and manage their own educational, career and personal development through individual and group meetings.
- Assist students as they apply for post-secondary education and as they apply for funding for those endeavors.
- Assist students to effectively manage transitions from year to year and to post-high school experiences.
- Use sources of appraisal information to assist in planning for and with students.
- Work with instructors and counselors to promote CTE courses that include Tech Prep and CTE dual enrollment courses.
- Collaborate with school and District staff to select and design appraisal programs and instruments to help students identify abilities, aptitudes, achievements and interests using career pathways models and materials.
- Organize personnel, physical resources, and transition activities to address special populations.
- Support core trainings that are necessary for all teachers.
- Plan, facilitate, present and/or evaluate staff development programs.
- Assist in campus improvement planning process.
- Assist campus with any necessary compliance activities.
- Maintain active participation in associations at the state levels.
- Attend trainings and stay current on content and strategies in the assigned content area.
- Attendance at work is an essential function.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid Texas driver’s license
- Eligible for coverage under the district’s vehicle insurance program
- Expertise in the content/program area assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Have good interpersonal skills
- Have good communication skills
- Strong desire to learn
- Capable of providing comprehensive staff development
