POSITION TITLE:
Custodian, Lead I
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Primary Purpose: To maintain high standards of cleanliness in school facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Clean classrooms, offices, libraries, gyms, store rooms and halls.
- Secure building.
- Exhibit proper use of supplies and equipment.
- Perform tasks including, but not limited to:
- Cleaning glass, windows, walls and chalkboards
- Vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, mopping, and buffing
- Sanitizing floors and restroom areas
- Removing trash from wastebaskets and pencil sharpeners
- Help set up for PTO/PTA and other meetings
- Operate all custodial equipment.
- Check building security.
- Keep head custodian informed of night activities.
- Attendance at work is an essential function.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Experience in custodial work or willingness to learn
- Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance and safety procedures
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Eligible for coverage under the district's vehicle insurance program

Working Conditions: Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds), pushing, reaching above shoulders, use of fingers, walking, standing (intermittent), kneeling (intermittent), repeated bending (intermittent), climbing (intermittent), operation of motor vehicle.
