JOB DESCRIPTION:
Primary Purpose: Assist students in academic achievement by clarifying learning problems and developing study skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide students with academic support in targeted subject area(s) via individual or group tutoring.
- Assist students with developing study strategies.
- Work with students to develop a tutoring plan that fits the student’s individual needs.
- Prepare tutoring sessions to ensure the student’s academic development.
- Assess the student’s progress throughout tutoring sessions.
- Participate in tutor training and development sessions as instructed.
- Attendance at work is an essential function.
- Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Experience:
- Teaching experience preferred
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Texas teaching certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Demonstrate knowledge and competence in the subject matter
- Ability to explain concepts to others effectively
- Effective communication, organization and interpersonal skills
- Exhibit patience and positive attitude in establishing an encouraging learning environment
