School Counselor
General Duties
1. Assists in implementing the identified goals of the School and the System.
Counseling
1. Provide both individual and group counseling based upon student needs and interests.
2. Provide community relations programs for faculty, students, and parents.
3. Participate as a member of the Student Support Team.
4. Participates in conferences with parents and teachers about students' needs and concerns.
5. Initiate counseling services for those students referred by teachers, administrators, or parents.
6. Refers to outside agencies as necessary.
7. Assists in the identification of At-Risk Students.
8. Provides classroom guidance.
9. The counselor's job duties may extend past regular school hours and into the community.
Guidance
1. Coordinates and Assists in the administration of state and other required tests.
2. Supervise the advisee / advisor program as required.
3. Coordinates student scholar and honors programs.
4. Provides current guidance materials.
5. Develops the comprehensive guidance plan in cooperation with other counselors and administrators.
6. All other duties as assigned by the principal.
Minimum Requirements
Georgia Certificate at the S-5 level in School Counseling.
Be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, sit, climb and lift items of approximately 10 pounds throughout the workday.
