Job Summary:
The Instructor of Dental Hygiene responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing instruction for students enrolled in the Dental Hygiene Program, maintaining office hours; and teaching extended day classes, labs, and hybrid/online courses, as required, both on campus and at alternate locations if needed. This individual will fill the role of Second-Year Clinic Coordinator for the Dental Hygiene program. This individual also helps coordinate and attend advisory committee meetings; attends workshops, seminars, and conferences to upgrade teaching skills; additional duties include student counseling, advising, recruiting, and committee involvement.

- Maintain ethical and professional behavior
- Maintain knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures contained in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual
- Participate in college service, which may include, committee work and advising and/or tutoring students
- Teach classes during the fall, spring, and summer semesters as required by the department (might include day, evening, weekend, and Early College High School/dual credit); including online courses; teach labs and clinical courses as required
- Provide mentorship to dual credit partners/mentees
- Attend Teaching and Learning Center sessions to enhance teaching skills
- Stay abreast of national matters and trends in education
- Assist in the development of curriculum as needed.
- Perform other related duties, as required

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor of science degree in dental hygiene or related field
- Must have graduated from a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a dental hygienist in a clinical setting and a minimum of 2 years of clinical teaching experience in dental hygiene
- Hold a current Texas Registered Dental Hygienist license or be eligible to obtain a Texas Faculty license
- Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Possess good time management skills
- Possess basic skills in Microsoft Office applications

- Related field and/or industry certifications
