The Manager of Development and Foundation’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining responsibility for all administrative aspects of development for the Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) Foundation. This position provides administrative support to the Executive Director and Foundation Board. This position is responsible for all financial transactions and accounting of the LIT Foundation and Development department. The Manager of Development and Foundation assists in the building and strengthening of relationships with donors, alumni, and donor prospects. This position reports directly to the Executive Director of Development and Foundation. This is an exempt level position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support LIT’s mission of increasing student access, success, and reduced debt by generating significant scholarships, grants, and in-kind gifts.
  • Process all donations.
  • Maintain foundation, corporation, and individual donor files.
  • Maintain and continually update LIT Foundation and Development database files via database software.
  • Maintain records and reports of financial transactions of scholarship and endowment accounts; post transactions to accounting journal and software; maintain the scholarship agreements to ensure legal requirements compliance for LIT Foundation and Development.
  • Prepare all financial transactions and reports from accounting software for annual audit review of LIT Foundation activities.
  • Create financial and other database reports and provide categorized financial reports on an as needed basis.
  • Assist in developing reports for TSUS board meetings.
  • Engage in prospect research activities by conducting preliminary inquiries on prospective individual donors and corporate foundations.
  • Develop an effective donor recognition/stewardship program that includes the LIT Foundation, President’s office, and Development.
  • Coordinate details associated with the LIT Foundation Board meetings including agendas, meeting materials, meeting minutes, etc.
  • Maintain Annual Scholarship donor accounts and Scholarship Endowments.
  • Manage in-kind gifts and donations of equipment to departments including but not limited to equipment appraisals provided by the donors.
  • Assist the Executive Director of Development and Foundation with required accounting software and credit card software upgrades.
  • Safeguard sensitive and confidential information.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION/QUALIFCATIONS REQUIRED:
  • A bachelor’s degree in related subject from a regionally accredited university
  • Two (2) years full-time related work experience.
  • Ability to professionally work with a wide range of individuals within and outside of LIT.
  • Knowledge and understanding of fundraising and related accounting functions.
  • Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, to organize and to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with database management and spreadsheets.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new software programs.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A master’s degree from a regionally accredited university
  • Experience with donor cultivation, bookkeeping/accounting, and/or educational or nonprofit fundraising
