What are the responsibilities and job description for the HVAC & General Mechanic position at Lamar State College-Port Arthur?
The purpose of the HVAC & general mechanic includes the maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems and assisting the Director of the Physical Plant in the day-to-day operation of the physical plant. The HVAC & general mechanic must safely and effectively operate mechanical and electrical equipment; effectively manage time; and maintain a good working relationship with others. Must understand and follow oral and written instructions; read, write, and understand departmental rules and regulations; be honest, cooperative and reliable and work independently as part of a team to accomplish work assignments.
The HVAC & general mechanic works under the supervision of the Director of the Physical Plant.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
3-5 years' of experience in a large-scale facility.
Proficiency in HVAC and Refrigeration with proper certifications
Experience with V.F.D.s; V.A.V. and integrated energy management systems.
Computer Skills Are Required.
Operate scanner, copier, fax, and printer.
Valid Driver's License.
The HVAC and general mechanic must have knowledge and experience with electrical and plumbing systems, standard practices of the HVAC and refrigeration trade and the theory of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
The HVAC and general mechanic must have experience in the safe and effective operation of mechanical and electrical equipment and reading and comprehending mechanical blueprints.
Lift and carry 50 pounds. Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking. Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing. Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
