What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Staff, Culinary Arts position at Lamar State College-Port Arthur?
The Instructional Staff of Culinary Arts has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, classroom and lab instruction of culinary arts in the Camp and Low Security Federal Prison System. This position is also responsible for coordinating activities and directing training; providing instruction in preparing foods in hotels or restaurants; familiarizing students with planning of menus and utilization of food surpluses and leftovers; and training in reviewing menus, analyzing recipes, determining food, labor and overhead costs, and assigning prices to menu items. This is a full-time, 12-month exempt position that reports to LSCPA's Correctional Education Department.
Education/Experience:
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires employees to remain in a stationary position most of the time; move to various locations on campus and in a prison setting; move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; and operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field.

Education/Experience:
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates of Applied Science degree in Culinary Arts or related field
- Three years of related work experience
- ServSafe Certification
- Must be able to clear Federal Bureau of Prisons' background check
- Skills in culinary arts, which requires creativity, hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- High degree of communication skills, written and spoken.
