Job Duties
Assist graduation staff with graduation and commencement duties. Assist with front desk duties. Assist customers at the service window. Assist customers by telephone. Complete on-campus errands. Duties also include preparing mailings, retrieving files, and document imaging.
Other duties as assigned.
Ability to work at commencement ceremonies is required. The ceremonies are in May, August, and December and take place after final exams have finished. Ability to work during the summer months is required.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records and files
- Ability to operate office machines including personal computer and scanner
- Good customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and work well in a busy environment
- Ability to understand and follow instructions
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and desire to help others
- Knowledge of general office and clerical procedures and concepts
- Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with university faculty, staff, students, and the general public
Requirements:
- Must be a registered student at Lamar University
- Must be available to work at commencement ceremonies. The ceremonies are in May, August, and December and occur after final exams have finished. Must be available to work during the summer months.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift at least 10 lbs.
Certifications Required
Work Hours
Up to 20 hours per week (between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday) with occasional hours outside regular hours due to commencement ceremonies.
Job Conditions
Office environment. Occasionally outdoors to assist with mail and events.
