Job Objective:
As a field crew member, performs vacuum excavation tasks, geophysical prospecting for underground utilities and supports overall crew activities.
Responsibilities
- Selects and applies appropriate geophysical prospecting equipment to accurately designate non-complex underground utility layouts.
- Performs all SUE Tech I functions.
- Basic comprehension and interpretation of utility and highway design plans, atlases, and record drawings.
- Performs minor maintenance and troubleshooting operating problems on vacuum systems.
Job Specifications:
- Meets all criteria for SUE Tech I.
- Basic understanding of conductive and non-conductive utility designating and the application of related equipment.
- Minimum 1 year experience as a SUE Tech I or in the successful application of geophysical equipment in utility locating, such as for a contract utility locating firm or a major utility company
- Ability to perform physical movements and tractions commensurate with operating heavy tools and equipment.
- Outdoor work in all climates.
- Possible extensive travel by motor vehicle or airplane up to 2 weeks continuously and overtime as needed.
Conditions of Employment:
- May be required to work weekends and holidays.
- May be required to work hours other than 8 to 5.
- Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours.
- Required to work under exposure to inclement weather conditions.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment provided by employer and comply with all safety requirements.
- Driver’s record check will be conducted by Lamb-Star Engineering, L.P. Satisfactory driving records are required for driving company vehicles and motor driven equipment to conduct company business.
- Physical exam at the employer's expense may be required .
- Drug screen at the employer's expense will be required.
- If necessary, as part of its employment process, Lamb-Star may procure or have prepared a criminal background check for various positions where the employee may need clearance for secure areas. An applicant with an unsatisfactory criminal background check report is ineligible to be hired for the position for which the report is initiated.
