Job Description Summary
The Relief Process Operator will be trained and qualified to cover multiple operator positions on shift, including Peeler, ADR, and Cutter. This is not a backup position; it is a permanent position that will cover various areas based on daily need. In addition to covering various operational areas of the plant, the Relief Operator will be involved in Lamb Weston VeLOCity activities and will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of continuous improvement programs and tools, and for conducting health checks on current installations. Examples of activities include: 5S, Area Ownership, CILs/Centerlines, AMD & Daily Schedule Control (DSC).
Peeler Operator: responsible for the operation of line 1 and 2 peelers, raw receiving, and the starch system. The peeler operator has responsibilities for raw product variety, line quality, efficient peeling of the potatoes, and starch recovery.
ADR Operator: operates and maintains a variety of machines, such as Automatic Defect Remover and color sorter to remove defects in potatoes. The ADR Operator prepares ADRs and sorters for various cuts and monitors processing equipment for various quality adjustments. Monitors and adjusts equipment in this work area as specified by QA lab, Process Lead and Team Leader direction. The ADR operator has primary responsibility for product quality with regard to defects, color, length and solids.
Cutter Operator: prepares cutters and water knives for various cuts and monitors cutters and water knives for various size adjustments. Monitors and adjusts equipment in this work area as specified by QA lab, Process Lead and Shift Supervisors direction. This position is responsible for the operation of the Water knives, Cutter Deck and related systems.

Job Description

- Actively be engaged in safety, participate in daily risk assessments, safety activities, and demonstrate ownership as well as leadership in personal safety and the safety of other team members.
- Actively practice and abide by all company work, safety, and personal hygiene rules and regulations as outlined in the employee handbook.
- Report all incidents, near misses, and any safety concerns immediately to Lead/Team Leader.
- Be an active participant in LOC/Continuous Improvement activities and teams.
- Ensure all standard work is completed for assigned area for the day.
- Document and communicate necessary raw changes to Lead/Team Leader.
- Setup, adjust, and monitor sizing, peeling, defect removal and frying equipment.
- Setup, monitor and adjust equipment to meet quality standards (AQL).
- Perform sanitation work as necessary to include general cleaning and organization of area working in.
- Perform major cleanup activities as assigned.
- Effectively communicate with Leads, Team Leaders, Mechanics, and other Team Members, information regarding changes in product and line changes, equipment issues, and all other pertinent information.
- Complete all necessary certifications as assigned for the Process Operator positions; may include confined space, fire watch, forklift, and pallet truck.
- Follow all lock out/tag out procedures for assigned work area and complete annual validation.
- Actively participate in Daily Schedule Control (DSC) meetings with your area team.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
- Experience desired but not required.
- Must be able to communicate well both in written and oral form.
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide using a calculator.
- Must have a working knowledge of basic computer skills.
- Must walk on a level concrete surface where water is frequently used to rinse equipment. Slick areas exist due to the presence of potato matter, starch, and grease. However, to reach some areas within the plant, the team member must climb stairs and/or ladders, use man lifts and walk on cat walks.
- Must have good eye-hand coordination.
- Must have normal finger dexterity and range of motion.
- Is required to reach with his/her hands and arms repetitively.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds on frequent basis.
- Must be able to push and pull heavy items on occasion.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Will regularly work near moving mechanical parts and vibration.
- Is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions as well as extreme heat and cold environments.
- May be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic, caustic, acid based or chlorinated chemicals.
- Will regularly work in an environment in which the noise level is usually loud.
- May be required to work from a man lift to reach elevated areas for sanitation.
- May be required to work in a confined space.
