Job Description Summary

The Team Leader Maintenance - Electrical role will oversee department safety, personnel, installation, operation, repair, overhaul and general maintenance activities for the Electrical and Sorter Ladre Specialist work groups. Provides supervision of equipment maintenance in assigned areas from the freezing tunnel exit to and including the Auto Truck Loading system. This includes but is not limited to shakers, graders, sorters, conveyors, scales, case weighing, packaging, metal detectors, coders, printers, case settlers, case sealers, robots, tote dumpers, palletizing, and auto truck loading equipment in order to assure the safe, optimal, uninterrupted packaging and shipping of quality potato products within budgeted costs.

Works closely with the Line Structure Team and Planners to properly prioritize planned work that attacks and eliminates deficiencies in a manner that safely improves and sustains equipment reliability to maximize plant production and uptime

Job Description

KEY SUPERVISORY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other projects/duties as assigned or needed.

  • Maintains and promotes safe work practices at all times and participates in safety programs. Assures employees are holding shift safety huddles, performing safety audits, and participating in plant safety programs. Setting expectations for housekeeping and sanitation in the shop and on the job site and following up to validate compliance.
  • Assures a safe work place for all employees by developing and supervising the safe work habits of subordinates.
  • Assures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as Lamb Weston policies and procedures.
  • Interviewing, selecting, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; coaching, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Assures a favorable labor climate by consistent and fair supervision and application of the labor agreement.
  • Assures that team members execute job assignments at a level that at a minimum meets the expectations of their current job classification (3rd, 2nd, 1st, Tech, etc.). Documents coaching of validated deficiencies.
  • Analyzes the mechanical and operational deficiencies of Process equipment and systems through personal observations, maintenance programs and Line Team and operator feedback. Utilizes observations and feedback to plan for and take corrective actions to eliminate the root causes of the deficiencies.
  • Walks the floor to review work or equipment in action. Review work plan for variances and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop sustainable Reliability Improvement Plan for area of responsibility.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with Contractors and Vendors to sustain equipment reliability and keep abreast of equipment obsolescence and new technology. Maintain Vendor contact for sourcing and ordering materials and supplies.
  • Provide guidance and management to Contractors and Vendors on site.
  • Assures the efficient and reliable day-to-day operation of all designated department equipment and systems by oversight of the maintenance, overhaul and the repair programs.
  • Provide guidance and management on required inventory levels for area of responsibility to meet R&M and financial objectives of the facility. This Includes but is not limited to providing inventory recommendations based on equipment Bill of Materials and Spare Parts List.
  • Reviews daily/weekly reports to identify and implement plans to address variances and Equipment Reliability gaps.
  • Review and adjust schedules for workload and labor. Adjust work order priority. Reviews break downs and develops a plan of action or recommendation to address and resolve root cause.
  • Provides recommendations for budgeting and maintains cost control for area of responsibility. Including but not limited to recommendations for the One-Shot Program. Complete assigned One Shot Projects.
  • Must coordinate and sustain cost saving initiatives and programs.
  • Provides recommendations to the plants Capital Program based on the reliability improvement plan for area of responsibility.
  • Contributes to the modernization of departmental equipment and layouts by recommending equipment design and layout, by assisting the Engineering Manager and/or Project Engineering team in planning and developing equipment changes, and by active involvement in the installation of new equipment.
  • Assist with Capital projects for Process equipment and systems to ensure installation is done at the highest level of quality and that adequate safe access is provided for performing operator and maintenance activities that will sustain reliable equipment performance.
  • Assures that manuals, troubleshooting guidelines, training, PM’s and recommended spare parts are in place prior to equipment going on- line.
  • Assures that any equipment, equipment PM’s and equipment spare parts being obsoleted by new installations are removed from SAP and Stores in accordance with Company policy.
  • Responsible for implementing and sustaining the Lamb Weston Operating Culture (LOC) philosophies and tools to drive continuous and sustained improvement. Develops resident Subject Matter Experts.
  • Assures the effective and efficient utilization of assigned labor, equipment, and repair parts to maintain control of operating and maintenance costs.
  • Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan for and modify as needed operating and maintenance activities. Reviews production schedule and coordinates with production, opportunities or changes in scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Assures production schedules are met and all issues are resolved and communicated in a timely fashion.
  • Supports and executes plant specific operating and maintenance strategies to achieve plant key performance goals for overall performance.
  • Must be able to provide technical and problem-solving support, training and recordkeeping for the plant and their team members.
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual budget for maintenance and ensures that R&M funds are prioritized. Upcoming expenses for equipment and/or parts obsolescence are included next year’s budget and that the submitted budgetary goals are achieved.
  • Assures the continuing optimal operation of all designated departmental equipment and systems by the development and management of an effective and sustainable Preventive Maintenance programs.
  • Assures a capable work force by developing and supervising an efficient and effective employee training program.
  • Participate in the Continuous Improvement Process as a member of the Leadership Team. This includes taking an active role in Continuous Improvement initiatives, safety programs, employee training, root cause failure analysis, PM Optimization and upgrading personal skill level.

Other Duties And Responsibilities

  • Works closely with EHS and responsible for Electrical Safety program.
  • Must have working knowledge of and manage equipment like; HIM, PLC, VFD, and SCADA. Must have working knowledge of Process Controls and Instrumentation.
  • Maintains current or red-lined electrical one-line drawings.
  • Prioritizes work under their responsibility including PLC/SCADA/HMI work.
  • Must be able to safely perform tasks in any area of the plant.
  • Proven leadership ability and excellent organizational skills.
  • Is responsible for the positive motivation and coaching of teammates as well as inspiring positive communication within their own team, co- workers and management so that they can work together collaboratively achieving plant goals.
  • Utilizing Health Checks, validates that maintenance activities are performed in a safe and thorough manner that improves and sustains equipment reliability to maximize plant production and uptime.
  • Looks for opportunities to rip and re-apply learnings gained to other equipment and processes
  • Must have excellent leadership skills and be able to accomplish their assigned duties and tasks through subordinates. Serves as the key communicator for their area of responsibility. Ensures work force effectiveness by eliminating potential for conflicts, delays and by setting expectations for safety, quality and job duration. Coaches and constructively provides positive and motivating feedback to their team.
  • Ability to think and make decisions quickly and effectively. Must be willing to accept change. Desire to constantly improve quality, products, skills and communication.
  • Requires the ability to work flexible days and hours as needed. (Typical work week is Monday-Friday 07:00-16:00 with an hour for lunch.)
  • Must be able to work some nights and weekends and potentially travel. Must be able to drive and possess a valid Driver’s License.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The employee spends approximately 80 percent of their time on the floor inside the plant wearing all required PPE. The noise level in the plant is usually loud. Hearing protection is required and is provided by the company.
  • While performing the duties of this job in the plant where the employee may occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions, heat, cold, wet and/or humid conditions, walking around running mechanical equipment, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and vibration.
  • The balance of their time is spent in an office environment, where the noise level is usually quiet and climate controlled.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Individual must have a degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field and/or minimum of 3 years electrical maintenance supervisory experience, preferably in a food processing environment. Combination of above qualifications or other qualifications plant management deems acceptable. Person should be proficient with CMMS and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have working knowledge of and manage programs and initiatives to include, but not restricted to; Arc Flash, LOTO, Confined Space, Hot Work and other safety programs.
  • Must have working knowledge of and manage NEC code compliance.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical and procedural manuals. Ability to write legible routine reports and correspondences.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Must be proficient in mathematical calculation to the level of basic algebraic and geometric equations.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished as written or oral. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $74,190.00 - $111,300.00
