Lambert and Associates is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented tax accountant to oversee tax preparation and financial reporting for our clients. Candidate must be located in North Carolina or South Carolina. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of tax laws, financial statements, and various accounting software. This role will focus on working with individuals and small businesses to help them optimize their tax strategies. The tax accountant will prepare income tax returns, conduct in-depth tax research, and provide actionable guidance on potential tax savings strategies. The role also requires strong verbal communication skills and a client-centered approach to ensure accurate, transparent communication about tax payments, liabilities, and deductions.

Key Responsibilities
As a tax accountant, you will:
- Prepare tax returns. Complete and file income tax returns for individual and business clients, ensuring compliance with IRS regulations and accuracy in reporting.
- Conduct tax research. Stay up to date with tax laws and evolving tax regulations to provide informed, accurate advice to clients.
- Develop tax strategies. Identify and implement tax strategies that minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax savings.
- Perform audits. Assist clients in audit preparation, working directly with tax authorities to address and resolve tax-related discrepancies or issues; when necessary
- Manage tax planning. Advise clients on effective tax planning for upcoming tax years to ensure financial readiness and efficient tax payments.
- Use accounting software. Employ tools like QuickBooks, Excel, ProConnect and other accounting software to manage, organize, and analyze financial records and transactions.
- Analyze financial statements. Review and assess financial statements for deductions, credits, and tax liabilities to create well-rounded tax reports.
- Maintain client tax files. Keep client tax files well-organized and updated, ensuring that all financial information is accurate and readily accessible.
- Prepare tax reports. Generate tax reports for client review, providing detailed insights into their tax compliance and planning outlook.
Qualifications and Skills
To be considered for the role of tax accountant, candidates should have:
- Education. A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Additional qualifications, such as a CPA/EA or master’s degree, are highly valued.
- Experience. Three to five years of experience in tax accounting, tax preparation, or a similar role, with a proven track record of managing tax responsibilities.
- Certification. A certified public accountant (CPA) license or an equivalent tax accountant certification is preferred.
- Analytical skills. Strong analytical skills for evaluating financial records and identifying strategic tax-saving opportunities.
- Time management. Effective time management skills to prioritize multiple clients, manage deadlines, and meet tax filing dates.
- Knowledge of tax regulations. In-depth understanding of tax laws, IRS regulations, and compliance requirements to ensure accuracy and avoid potential issues.
- Communication skills. Excellent verbal communication skills to facilitate clear discussions with clients and explain tax strategies effectively.
- Software proficiency. Familiarity with Excel, QuickBooks, and other accounting software commonly used in tax preparation.
- Organizational skills. Strong organizational skills for managing client files, tracking financial statements, and overseeing client data securely.
