Summary
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support adults with developmental disabilities in our Intermediate Care Facility (ICF). In this role, you will assist with daily living activities, promote independence, and ensure a safe, nurturing environment. This includes helping Participants with mobility challenges, fostering community integration, and receiving comprehensive training to ensure success.
The Role
- Assist Participants with developmental disabilities in daily living activities, including showering, dressing, personal care, and maintaining personal spaces
- Prepare meals for Participants with special dietary needs and monitor safety during all meals to ensure health and well-being
- Provide reliable transportation into the community using Lambs Farm vehicles, fostering engagement through social and recreational activities
- Assist Participants who are wheelchair-bound, including lifting, transferring, and ensuring their safety during activities
- Administer medications, monitor health conditions, and report any changes promptly
- Document incidents, activities, and progress in electronic health records with accuracy
- Collaborate with team members to implement and adjust individualized care plans
- Uphold health and safety standards, including caring for Participants who may become ill and following protocols
- Perform physically demanding tasks and participate in ongoing training to enhance care practices
Qualifications
Education and Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must pass the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems (CASAS) test
- Completion of the Lambs Farm DSP certification program within 120 days of hire, including ongoing compliance with training requirements
- Medication Administration Certification required within 160 days of hire
- CPR, First Aid, and crisis intervention certification required (training provided by Lambs Farm)
Experience and Skills
- Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Proficiency in writing, speaking, and understanding English
- Physically capable of performing tasks requiring bending, lifting, walking, and assisting wheelchair-bound Participants (lifting up to 50 pounds)
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills, with adaptability to changing needs
- Comfortable providing care for Participants who may become ill and following health and safety protocols
Technical Skills
- Accurate typing and data entry skills
- Proficiency with word processors, spreadsheet software, and email management
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, such as Therap, Epic, or Allscripts, is a plus
