Lamoille North Supervisory Union is seeking an innovative, creative, and dynamic educator to lead our Special Education Department. The Director of Student Support Services provides oversight and leadership for all special education services across the Supervisory Union. The position provides direct supervision of all Special Education Staff, management of special education grant management and special education budget development.
Qualifications:
Candidates must hold (or be eligible for) Vermont Educator's License for Special Education Director ( 3-86 ).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise the student support services program, ensuring adequate staffing and budget allocation to meet program objectives.
Implement and oversee all aspects of student support service programming, including Special Education services, 504 coordination, Mckinney Vento, and Early Childhood Programs.
Coordinate Multi-Tiered System of Supports with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Act as the Title IX Coordinator for the District.
Ensure the delivery of high-quality Special Education services within the MTSS framework and compliance with Act 173.
Uphold district policies, procedures, and regulations, as well as relevant Federal, State, and Local laws.
Oversee the preparation of necessary reports, records, and paperwork to meet Local, State, and Federal mandates.
Plan and execute professional development programs and activities in alignment with Local, State, and Federal guidelines.
Develop and propose annual budgets for Local, State, and Federal resources in collaboration with the Superintendent and Business Manager.
Write, maintain, and follow federal and state grant guidelines.
Foster positive relationships with the VT Agency of Education, other agencies, parent/advocacy groups, and neighboring school districts.
Provide support and collaborate with district initiatives aimed at reducing truancy and dropout rates.
Stay updated on instructional, learning, management, and Special Education trends, developments, and research.
Participate in professional development and activities within the profession at the local, state and national level.
Develop professional development opportunities for all staff in best practices in special education, compliance issues, universal design, differentiation and other staff identified topics.

Proven aptitude in strategic planning and efficient organization.
Extensive experience serving as an LEA as a building, or district level administrator.
Proficient in enhancing instructional methods and fostering inclusive learning environments for diverse student populations.
Demonstrated experience in needs assessment, proposal drafting, and program evaluation.
Capable of identifying and resolving challenges in situations with unclear objectives or information.
Skilled in prioritizing and allocating limited resources effectively.
Ability to foster positive relationships with team members.
Effective and direct communication skills adaptable to various audiences.
Proficiency in a range of computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email, and internet usage.
Knowledgeable about relevant Federal and State educational laws and regulations, particularly those pertinent to Vermont.
Maintains integrity and professionalism that garners trust and respect from students, parents, and colleagues.
Upholds a strict standard of confidentiality.
