Job Summary
The Hose Welder cuts hose to length, attaches flanges, fittings, and other fittings to fill custom orders for industrial Metal hoses. Interprets orders to determine product needed, performs hose assembly testing for leak detection and for safety certification. Package finished product and picks gaskets, bolts, nuts, and washers, as necessary.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Performs various fabrication procedures such as, welding, cutting hoses to length and attaching flanges, fittings and other components for industrial customers.
Hydro-statically pressure test steam hose assemblies for leak detection.
Receives and verifies incoming parts, material, and supplies; maintains stock areas; and prepares sales orders.
Detects and reports equipment, defective material, improper operations, and unusual conditions to supervisor.
Works in manner that ensures the safety of everyone involved by exercising proper care and use of tools and equipment.
Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
Maintains a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat; maintaining clean shipping area; complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending manufacturer-training program, in-house workshops, and reviewing publications.
Delivers finished product and paperwork to Shipping.
Receives incoming freight and checks quantities against manifests for accuracy.
Stocks material on proper shelf or rack location.
Conducts physical count and maintains hose material inventory and properly disposes of scraps.
Cross trains to set up, operate and maintain machinery used for cutting, forming, or building industrial gaskets as hoses.
Inspects finished products for specifications, quality standards, and defects.
Verify daily tasks are completed for all hose shop operations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications
Skills
Ability to understand verbal/written instructions.
Able to work with numbers with minimal transposition errors over the course of a regular shift.
Ability to read/understand all measurement notations on a measuring tape, including 1/32” and 1/16” reading marks.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
GTAW Welding Certificate preferred
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years manufacturing/hose fabrication experience
Previous gasket, bolt, or hose experience desirable.
Warehouse or fabrication yard or shop experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
Able to lift 30 lb. independently, and 50-70 lbs. with assistance.
Able to climb, bend, stoop, push and pull.
Continuous standing and/or walking.
Good eye/hand/foot coordination.
Good visual acuity
Ability to work in cold, hot and/or dusty environment, with noisy conditions.
