Job Description:
Lamson Products is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Laser Operator/Quality Inspector. The ideal candidate will possess excellent multitasking abilities, a strong attention to detail, and a proactive attitude. This position requires someone who is available for overtime, punctual, and can adapt to a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
Laser Cutting Operations:
- Operate and maintain laser cutting equipment to produce precision components for knife manufacturing.
- Ensure accurate and efficient execution of laser cutting processes.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laser equipment/laser room.
Quality:
- Maintain and Document Work Order Pass/Fail Rates: Ensure accurate recording and reporting of work order outcomes.
- Pre-Engraving Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of parts before engraving to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Comprehensive Product Inspection: Perform inspections on incoming materials, in-process items, and finished goods to ensure quality throughout the production cycle.
- Additional Quality Duties: Undertake other quality-related responsibilities as assigned by the Quality and Operations Manager.
Documentation and Communication:
- Familiarity with shop travelers and work orders to ensure accurate production tracking.
- Communicate effectively with other departments and team leaders to coordinate production activities.
Data Entry and Record-Keeping:
- Basic data entry skills are preferred to maintain accurate production records.
- Document relevant information to support production reporting and analysis.
Safety and Chemical Handling:
- Adhere to strict safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Comfortable working with chemicals and following proper handling procedures.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Numerical Skills:
Comfortable working with numbers to interpret specifications and measurements accurately.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training is a plus.
- Previous experience in laser engraving or similar manufacturing roles is advantageous.
- Basic understanding of shop travelers, work orders, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
- Demonstrated punctuality, attention to detail, and a proactive approach.
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and handle chemicals responsibly.
