POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing marketing, community outreach and branding initiatives to raise awareness, promote and fundraise for Lanakila Pacific. This includes planning marketing and fundraising campaigns, community outreach initiatives and events on time and within budget. The Marketing Specialist supports the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and upholds and enforces the guidelines and policies of the organization, and demonstrates Lanakila Pacific’s values of teamwork, excellence, achievement, and motivation in all personal interactions and exemplifies Lanakila’s STAR service standards.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Implementation and Infrastructure

  • Collaborate with Director of Marketing & Development to develop the annual marketing & communications plan aimed to raise brand awareness, increase community support,and/or foster engagement.
  • Plan and implement marketing campaigns and initiatives per the annual marketing & communications plan.
  • Lead in the planning and implementation of community outreach initiatives, collaborating with Marketing Coordinator for additional support as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Development team to support major fundraising initiatives and special events, while maintaining alignment with Lanakila Pacific’s marketing strategy and objectives.
  • Collaborate with Programs and Services to plan and implement initiatives to promote brand awareness, engagement, and/or sales, while maintaining alignment with Lanakila Pacific’s marketing strategy and objectives.
  • Plan and implement social media campaigns to increase awareness and engagement.
  • Support the designing and production of marketing and communications collateral as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments to implement Marketing Department’s initiatives while maintaining alignment with the Lanakila Pacific’s strategic objectives.
  • Continuously learns, builds, and applies knowledge of best practices in marketing, communications, philanthropy, etc. to improve current strategies, systems, processes, and relationships.
  • Prepare accurate statistical and fiscal data for required monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, program planning reports and record correspondence and presentations.
  • Represent Lanakila Pacific at community meetings and events.

Other Duties:

  • Ensure all safety procedures and practices are followed and enforced, and that safeguards and proper safety gear, such as gloves, are used when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with confidential information and comply with established policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to gain and possess thorough knowledge of Lanakila Pacific’s programs and seek ongoing educational opportunities related to the position.
  • Perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned.
  • Complete training as mandated by organizational policy.
  • Operates in a fiscally responsible way, protecting and safeguarding company assets and eliminating waste and inefficiencies.
  • Assists with developing the annual budget and ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget through regular monitoring of outcomes and expenditures, on assigned projects.

  • Technology/Tools:
    • o Ability to use various software systems, intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office products.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Required

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of marketing or communications work experience
  • Areas of knowledge: Branding, marketing, communications, strategic planning
  • Skills: Intermediate knowledge of application programs Microsoft Office, or other comparable programs
  • Clearance/Certification: 1) TB clearance, 2) Criminal background check, 3) Pre-employment drug testing; 4) Child Protective Services/Adult Protective check.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract

Preferred

  • Experience: Event planning; 5 years of marketing or communications work experience in nonprofit sector
  • Skills: Demonstrated intermediate print and digital graphic design; Demonstrated strong writing skills; Intermediate knowledge of application programs such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or other comparable programs

WORKING CONDITIONS/HOURS:

  • Monday through Friday, normal business hours 7:30 am – 4:00 pm. Hours and work days, including weekends and holidays, may vary due to operational needs and contract requirements. Indoors, office setting (and telework available), outdoors; may travel to see employees, other program sites, meeting sites, etc., as required.
