ON-CALL FIREFIGHTER VACANCIES
We are currently recruiting for On-Call Firefighters for Stations across Lancashire:
On-call Firefighters often have another job and will provide on-call cover from home or their place of work. They respond to emergencies when their pager alerts them, so must live or work within 5 minutes travel time from the station.
The stations recruiting are:
Northern Area: Lancaster, Carnforth, Hornby, Morecambe, Bolton le Sands, Silverdale, Garstang, Fleetwood, Preesall
Eastern Area: Longridge, Clitheroe, Hyndburn, Great Harwood, Darwen
Southern Area: Ormskirk, Skelmersdale, Tarleton, Chorley, Bamber Bridge
Western Area: Wesham, Lytham, St Annes
Pennine Area: Bacup, Rawtenstall, Haslingden, Nelson, Earby, Colne, Padiham, Barnoldswick
Recruitment to a particular station will be dependent upon the available hours at the time of the closing date, if the station you have applied for does not have available hours at that time, your application will be carried forward to the next recruitment campaign.
We generally require On-call firefighters to give between 60-120 hours per week. Patterns and hours of cover vary from station to station. Our biggest requirement is for day time cover Monday – Friday 0600-1800 and 24 hours across Saturday and Sunday.

Candidates are required to meet the following eyesight standard: - Uncorrected distance vision no worse than 6/18 in the better eye and 6/24 in the worse eye. Corrected distance acuity should be at least 6/9 with both eyes open and reach 6/12 in the weaker eye. If you have concerns in relation to your eye sight, colour blindness, or have had laser eye surgery, please request an optician form via Email: Itrentsupport@lancsfirerescue.org.uk to take to your optician to ensure you meet the eye sight standard.
Please note, the Pre-Learning evening sessions will take place over 4 weeks on station, w/c 30 September 2022
There will also be a Pre-Learning session at Service Training Centre, Chorley on the Saturday 23 October 2022 and Saturday 5 November 2022.
