Description

Job Summary:

This position exists for the purpose of teaching and advising undergraduate Ministry Studies students as well as administrating all aspects of the undergraduate Intercultural Studies Program under the direction of the School of Bible & Ministry.

Employee Type: Faculty – 10-month

Reports to: Program Chair for Undergraduate Ministry Studies                               

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Develops and leads a team of adjunct instructors in Intercultural Studies.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Education and Experience: 

  • An earned graduate degree in a field of Ministry Studies from an accredited institution.  A terminal degree is preferred.
  • Significant Intercultural Ministry leadership experience. Experience in a long-term, cross-cultural, and urban context is preferred.
  • A positive reputation as a servant-leader, disciple maker and communicator.
  • A well-articulated philosophy of ministry and the global church.
  • A record of continuing education to stay abreast of developments in culture and ministry.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • An ability to relate to LBC and Capital Seminary & Graduate School students.
  • An ability to relate to and work with local/regional/global ministry leaders.
  • An ability to mentor, communicate, advise and provide counsel within a ministry setting.
  • Willingness to contribute to the field of Ministry Studies through writing, research, consulting, and developing educational material.
  • An ability to function as a team member with other faculty in the School of Bible & Ministry.
  • Seasoned as a communicator in written and oral formats.
  • Experienced as a teacher in both in-class and on-line learning environments.
  • The ability to vision cast, recruit, and nurture accountability among members of the Intercultural Studies teaching team.
  • Proficient in word processing, general computer skills, and the capacity to learn LBC | Capital’s instructional technologies (e.g. Learning Management System, Video Conferencing, etc.).

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Intercultural Studies specialist within the Undergraduate Ministry Studies team by
    • Developing and curating an innovative Intercultural Studies program and curriculum.
    • Developing and leading a team of adjunct instructors in Intercultural Studies.
    • Monitoring outcomes assessment of students and graduates in the Intercultural Studies program.
  • Teach courses as assigned at the undergraduate, adult education, and/or graduate level in face-to-face, blended, and online format which may require teaching during the day, evening, and/or weekend.
  • Provide academic advising of undergraduate Ministry Studies students.
  • Facilitate development of Ministry Studies students through advising, personal discipleship, and informal interaction at college events.
  • Meet with leadership of the School of Bible & Ministry regularly for the purpose of teamwork, communication, accountability, vision casting, and prayer.
  • Participate in undergraduate and all-staff School of Bible & Ministry meetings.
  • Communicate with the adjunct faculty regularly each semester for the purpose of evaluation, encouragement, vision casting, and prayer.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental initiatives including core Ministry Studies curriculum, departmental retreats, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of required documents for program maintenance and development including but not limited to reports, proposals, catalog content, website content, advertising materials, program brochures, curriculum sheets, and Taskstream assessment.
  • Be available for speaking engagements, leadership training, and equipping seminars sponsored by local ministries as time and ability permits.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
