Job Title: Assistant Payroll Clerk (12 Month Position)
Location: Treasurer’s Office
Salary: TBD – Based on Experience
Start Date: Approximately May 21, 2025
Essential Functions:
Assists in processing payroll for classified staff including absences, timesheets, and overtime
Posts payroll and benefits to the accounting system each payroll
Completes verification of employment forms not handled by the HR Department
Make daily bank deposits
Posts all non-grant related receipts
Follows up on all returned checks
Processes all refund checks
Works closely with BWC and the third-party administrator in regards to all workers compensation claims
Assists in phone coverage when office manager is unavailable
Enters and retrieves data through the use of the computer system
Assists in inventory tracking
Performs other clerical and accounting tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor
Completes unemployment claims
Attends trainings and meetings related to job tasks or as recommended by Treasurer
Qualifications:
High School graduate or equivalency
Bookkeeping and/or accounting courses
Typing, filing, and accounting skills, data processing and math aptitude skills, discreet and tactful public relations skills
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
At least 3-5 years of experience working in a similar secretarial position
