The Lancaster County Career & Technology Center has a vacancy for a Protective Services Instructor beginning with the 2025-2026 school year at the Public Safety Training Center!
Monday- Friday; approximately 7:40 a.m. - 3:20 p. m. during the school year (189 days per year)
Salary: Starting at $57,703 - $59,503 if not a certified teacher in PA; Higher if certified
JOB SUMMARY: The Protective Services program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills required to perform entry-level duties in law enforcement, fire fighting, EMT and other safety services. This program stresses the techniques, methods and procedures peculiar to the areas of criminal justice and fire protection especially in emergency and disaster situations. Physical development and self-confidence skills are emphasized due to the nature of the specific occupation(s). In addition to the application of mathematics, communication, science and physics, students receive training in social and psychological skills, map reading, vehicle and equipment operation, the judicial system, pre-hospital emergency medical care and appropriate emergency assessment, treatment and communication. In addiiton, the instructor assists the students in job-seeking skills such as resume building, interviewing techniques and other skills. Instructors provide theoretical and hands-on instruction to students in activities and competencies designed to promote social, intellectual and employment growth and to meet graduation requirements for the participating school districts. The Instructor will be responsible for developing and conducting learning programs and associated materials for students with the ultimate goal of producing entry-skilled and employable students.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/SKILLS/FUNCTIONS 1. Instruction
- Develop appropriate course materials and aids including total written curriculum, lesson plans, instruction sheets, visual aids, and other related materials
- Manage equipment, tools, and other supplies needed to support established curriculum
- Evaluate student progress and develop reports and other feedback materials/assessments
- Designs instruction and provides opportunities for students to develop safety practices, professionalism, positive work ethics, and occupational skills
- Uses professional judgment to provide and maintain an educational environment conducive to learning
- Performs duties as prescribed in the PA School Code
- Acts in concurrence with the PA Professional Code of Conduct
- Other Duties as assigned
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Ability to use computer technology for grading, attendance, e-mail, software applications, internet and other education activities as required by the Administration
- Generates problem solutions
- Serves as advisor/consultant
- Develops operating procedures
- At least 4 years’ documented wage earning experience in one of the following areas: Police Officer, EMT or Fire Fighter. Experience in Law Enforcement preferred.
- Ability to obtain required clearances (Child Abuse, PA State Criminal, and FBI Clearances) - Instructions will be provided on this process
- High School diploma or equivalency
- Able to use and maintain equipment specific to trade
