Lancaster County, SC, located in the fast-growing and highly desirable Charlotte, NC region, is the third fastest growing county in South Carolina with a population of 112,000. The County is committed to managing growth and enhancing the quality of life through sound policies, innovation, capital investments, business recruitment, public safety support, and parks and recreation amenities. The County is governed under the Council – Administrator form of government and includes six elected department directors. The workforce consists of 707 full-time employees and approximately 500 part-time employees and operates on a combined funds budget of nearly $150 million for FY25. The County consists of one city and three towns and is working to balance suburban growth and rural area service needs. The County is seeking qualified candidates for the Communications and Marketing Director position to lead the Communications and Marketing Team. The Communications and Marketing Director is a highly visible and key member of the organization as well as a member of the County Administrator’s Leadership Team. The Communications and Marketing Director will report directly to the Deputy County Administrator but works closely with all members of the Leadership Team and interacts with County Council, County department directors and staff on a regular basis.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The successful candidate will oversee a team of three Communications and Marketing Specialists that support all County departments in their communications and marketing needs. The candidate will play a key role in the communication of strategic priorities and highly complex organization-wide projects such as brand management, comprehensive public relations campaigns, robust community engagement campaigns and the County-wide strategic plan. The candidate will lead the development and production of promotional materials to increase the visibility of Lancaster County, including employee recruitment campaigns, award submittals, and helpful tips during inclement weather. This position will also be responsible for the online content of the County and will manage the internal and external website and all social media platforms. This position serves as the spokesperson for the County for all media outlets.
