What are the responsibilities and job description for the Programs Coordinator position at Lancaster County Workforce Development Board?
The Programs Coordinator is responsible for providing oversight and technical assistance to Youth and Adult programs funded by the Lancaster County Workforce Development Board. As part of the LCWDB team, this position provides outreach to community organizations (including youth and adult programs) and school districts in Lancaster County to help bridge the gap between employers needs, youth needs, and community needs. A multi-faceted position, this position is engaged with Career Ready Lancaster!, the LCWDBs business education partnership, as well as throughout the community. This role will also staff the Youth Committee, and other committees as needed to assist in fulfilling the committee goals.
Understanding of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act will be learned on the job if not known, with training provided to help understanding all Federal and Commonwealth regulations and policy associated with funding streams impacting the Board. This role will participate as a member of the LCWDB to move strategy forward in being the leader of workforce development within Lancaster County.
Some examples of the essential duties of this role include, but are not limited to:
Program Oversight - This candidate will spend approximately 55% of time with Youth programs and 35% of time with Adult and Dislocated Worker programs. They will provide technical assistance to subrecipient providers of the youth and adult programs funded by the LCWDB Part of this is to monitor funding, budgets, and expenditures of activities and participate in the process to utilize any unused funds prior to fiscal year end. They also participate in collaborative problem solving with peers and individual professional development on the statewide Technical Work Groups of the PA Workforce Development Association (PWDA).
Board & Committee Staffing- this role attends board meetings, including staffing and being the main point of contact for the Youth Committee. They help to plan and carry out major functions and activities identified by the goals set by Youth Committee.
CRL- LCWDB's business education partnership, this role will serve as board liaison with CRL!- in conjunction with CRL! Coordinator. Ensures CRL! success through collaboration and community engagement and networking.
Community Engagement - this roll will help evaluate, develop, plan, coordinate, and oversee strategies and initiatives directed by the LCWDB for the workforce development of Lancaster County, such as career fairs, counselor tours, career camps, and other youth opportunities.
Education & Experience
Having the skills to be successful in this role could come in many forms. These include:
- Four-year college degree in human services, education, youth or related field or
- Three years of progressive, comparable experience in human service, education, youth, or related field or
- Four years combined education and experience.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications.

Salary : $70,000 - $74,000
