Job Title: Coder
Position Summary: Responsible to post all office charges timely and accurately. Balances reports daily.
Pay: Determined based on years of work experience
Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent (required). Business or trade school education in clerical and data entry, health care insurance billing or equivalent.
- Classes in CPT and ICD-10 coding encouraged.
- Must have at least one year experience in CPT and ICD-10 coding. CPC or CPC-A certification required. PC experience and medical insurance background preferably in orthopedics required.
- Valid PA Driver's License (required)
Specific Abilities:
- Ability to accurately type 45 words per minute and familiarity with typewriter and PC keyboard.
- Above average calculator skills required.
- Must demonstrate basic, accurate bookkeeping skills.
- Must demonstrate above average verbal and written communication skills.
- Must demonstrate proper telephone etiquette.
- Must be able to prioritize and organize.
- Must have the ability to cooperate with/or work under the direction of others and independently.
Essential Equipment Used:
- Must display knowledge of the use of a PC, calculator, copier, fax, and telephone.
Essential Duties
Performs the following specific job duties, including but not limited to:
1. Entry of Charges: Responsible for posting all office charges as indicated on the
practice standards for coders. Must maintain a 95% accuracy rate.
2. Organization: File all correspondence, reports or forms in accurate location in an
orderly fashion. Keep work area neat and personal files organized and identified.
Displays neat, legible handwriting.
3. Communication: Communicates clearly and effectively by consulting supervisor
regarding problems or concerns that arise. Offers suggestions to create and improve
efficiency within the office.
4. Teamwork: Works collaboratively and in a positive, professional manner with
coworkers, patients and supervisor to assure customer satisfaction. Avoids clicks,
gossip and tension within the department.

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
