Job Title: Orthopedic Technician
Hours: 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM
Position Summary: Responsible for providing professional and effective orthopedic care as ordered by a physician to treat musculoskeletal problems.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent (required)
- OTC or ATC certified, RT(R), EMT, CNA, CMA (one of these required)
- CPR certification (preferred)
- 6 months of related experience (preferred)
Essential Duties:
- Apply casts, splints or braces under the direction of the physician.
- Assists in maintaining patient flow in office; escorts patients to exam rooms and prepares patient for physician. Assists physician when necessary.
- Answers medical questions from patients and assists with patient education.
- Assists with maintaining the medical area. Ensures that all designated supplies are kept current and in working order.
- Must possess flexibility with doctor’s schedules to ensure coverage.
- Records all patient information in charts according to the LOG system. Documents appropriately all phone conversations from patients for filing in chart.
- Works collaboratively with co-workers. Works with co-workers and supervisor in a positive, professional manner.
- Instruct and oversee medical staff training in proper cast and splint application.
