Position: Summer Camp Counselor
Reports to: Camp Director
Rate: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
Job Type: Part-time Seasonal
Schedule: Up to 8 hour shift, daytime hours, M-F
Location: Lancaster, PA (In-person work required)
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience related to childcare.
- Driver's License or photo ID (Required).
- Passion for making a positive impact on children's lives.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, show sensitivity, and exercise patience at all times.
- Strong communication skills with parents/guardians, school personnel, and fellow staff members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively supervise our campers at all times.
- Ensure adherence to all Lancaster Rec/DHS/Keystone Stars guidelines for quality childcare.
- Engage actively in childcare activities with passion, patience, and finesse.
- Maintain small group ratios and accurately track attendance.
- Foster environments that boost children's self-esteem through positive reinforcement techniques.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding children's progress.
- Collaborate with fellow staff members to create a positive atmosphere.
- Develop and maintain positive communication with school personnel.
- Implement daily activity schedules aligned with program philosophy.
- Prepare and maintain site and outdoor areas for planned activities.
- Complete required paperwork and training sessions in a timely manner.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and be a positive role model for children and colleagues.
- Swimming is offered twice each week, be prepared to swim.
Experience:
- Childcare: 2 years (Required)
- Mentoring children: 2 years (Preferred)
- High School Diploma / GED (Required)
