The Lancaster Recreation Commission is currently hiring for our summer playground/wading pool program for Culliton Park, Rodney Park, Sixth Ward Park, Buchanan Park, King Park, and Reservoir Park.
The hours for this position are 10:30am-4:30pm.
Candidates must be at least 16 years and older and must pass all clearances in order to qualify. The program operates from June 9-August 1, 2025 with a mandatory training before the start date.
Playground Staff Job Description
Nature of Work: The playground staff is responsible for conducting a wide variety of activities in the summer playground. The position is part-time/seasonal. Playground staff report to the Playground Coordinator.
Work Duties: (This includes all other job-related duties, responsibilities and projects as assigned).
- Conducts registration at playground site.
- Promotes and organizes children to participate in Lancaster Recreation
Commission special events.
- Insures the safety and wellbeing of children attending the pool.
- Keeps accurate attendance and registration statistics daily.
- Checks out playground equipment and keeps track of items daily.
- Communicates problems/concerns to Playground Coordinator
immediately.
- Enforces wading rules and regulations.
- Wears staff t-shirt at all times. No permanent altering of t-shirt permitted.
- Operates wading pool safely.
- Administers Summer Food Service Program and complies with all federal regulations.
Requirements of Work:
- Ability to supervise children ages 6-13.
-Ability to supervise and guide Jr. Playground leaders.
- Ability to prepare a written weekly report.
- Leadership skills while working with children ages 6-13.
- Must attend the Playground Training.
- Possess knowledge of playground activities.
- Must complete the Child Abuse Clearance Form & Criminal History Check From, FBI Clearance and Sex Offender Verification (NSOR).
- Represents the Lancaster Recreation Commission in a professional manner at all times.
- Arrive so that playground can be opened on time.
