Lakewood Conservative Baptist Church (https://www.lakewoodbaptist.net) is seeking a full-time Senior Pastor.
Requirements
I. Overview of the Position
The Senior Pastor of Lakewood Baptist (GARBC) is a leader called by the Holy Spirit to serve as the under shepherd of Jesus Christ in guiding the congregation of Lakewood Baptist Church in a life-transforming relationship with the crucified and risen Son of God, Jesus Christ. This role requires the pastor to lead believers in alignment with Biblical truth, church doctrine, and the church covenant. Responsibilities include weekly sermons, teaching Sunday School and Bible studies, leading prayer meetings, and conducting special services (e.g. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and other special services throughout the year), as well as providing spiritual guidance to the church leadership, committees, etc. The Senior Pastor will also address congregational needs such as pre-marital counseling, officiating at weddings and funerals, and conduct individual visitation for members, attenders and visitors, providing spiritual care.
II. Responsibilities
Preaching and Teaching
· Preach and teach God’s Word as the foundation of faith and the Christian Life and the source of strength for good works and obedience. (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
· Prayerful preparation to deliver messages that comfort, exhort, admonish and instruct and encourage the congregation.
· Use preaching and teaching to facilitate the work of the Holy Spirit in bringing spiritual growth, healing, and hope, while equipping believers to share the gospel.
· Emphasize the power of God’s Word to build faith, as described in Romans 10: 14-17.
· And to connect believers to the grace and truth found in Christ’s death and resurrection.
Supporting Christian Education
· Collaborate with the Christian Education Committee to develop, implement, and monitor a Christian education program that fosters Bible literacy and spiritual growth for all ages.
· Guide the congregation in applying Biblical principles to personal and societal challenges.
· Assist with Vacation Bible School (VBS) planning and coordinate special programs between the Christian Education Committee and other church committees and or boards.
· Teach Sunday School or other classes deemed appropriate to support Christian Education.
Interpreting the Faith
· Interpret the faith in ways that are Biblically grounded, prayerfully considered, and Christ exalting.
· Engage deeply with Scripture to provide well-reasoned and edifying insights.
· Draw upon the historical Baptist theological positions and practices to strengthen the congregation’s faith.
· Connect the truths of Scripture to the experiences of believers, emphasizing love for God and one another as central to the Christian life.
Promoting Evangelism
· Support LBC’s commitment to evangelism by encouraging members to share their faith and lead others to Christ.
· Help develop individual gifts of evangelism within the congregation, equipping members to articulate the hope they have in Christ with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15).
· Promote local outreach efforts such as VBS and partnerships with other compatible Christian ministries, while maintaining strong support for missions through the church’s missions program.
Providing Pastoral Care
· Celebrate life events such as engagements, weddings (including pre-marital counseling), births or other milestones.
· Provide compassionate support during times of sorrow, such as family losses, illnesses, or other hardships.
· Conduct visitations to elderly, homebound, and hospitalized, offering prayerful support and encouragement.
· Plan and officiate funerals with sensitivity and care, supporting grieving families during times of loss.
· Perform annual visitation to all members to offer spiritual guidance and encouragement.
· Emphasize the importance of mutual care among church members, fostering a supportive and prayerful community.
Tending to Church Growth and Health
· Focus on fostering a spiritually vibrant and nurturing environment where believers are grounded in the Word of God.
· Promote numerical growth through a welcoming atmosphere, rich teaching, and the encouragement of fellowship among members and attenders.
· Work toward the holistic health of the congregation, ensuring that spiritual, relational, and community needs are met.
Developing Spiritual Growth
· Guide both new and seasoned believers in deepening their spiritual journey through prayer, personal reflection, and engagement with Scripture.
· Lead or support Sunday School Classes, weekly Bible studies, and spiritual retreats.
· Recommend resources for individual and group study, encouraging members and attenders to grow in their understanding of covenantal relationships within the church.
Counseling
· Provide Biblically grounded counseling to individuals, couples and families seeking spiritual guidance or encouragement.
· Assist in resolving conflicts that impact the unity of the church body using a Christ-centered approach.
· Promote a culture of Christian care and concern, helping members and attenders align their lives with the revealed will of God.
Expectations
· Serve as a spiritual leader who shares the congregation’s joys and supports its sorrows and burdens.
· Work in collaboration with church leadership, including deacons and other elected officers to fulfill the church’s mission and vision.
· Model Christ-like humility, prayerfulness, and dedication to the ministry of Lakewood Baptist Church.
Qualifications
· Must possess and demonstrate a deep personal relationship with The Lord Jesus Christ and meet the Biblical qualifications for the pastoral office (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9).
· Must possess a degree or a diploma from a suitable Bible College, Seminary or Graduate School and be skilled in preaching, teaching, counseling and pastoral care.
· Must exhibit the ability to interact with Scripture and to communicate it’s truths effectively.
· Must possess a heart for evangelism, discipleship and the fostering of spiritual growth among members and attenders of Lakewood Baptist Church.
Accountability
· The Senior Pastor is accountable to Lakewood’s congregation and shall work collaboratively with the Deacons, and other church leadership to fulfill the mission and vision of the church.

Benefits
Compensation
· Salary – the range is between 60K and 85K depending on years of experience and levels of education as an inclusive compensation package
