Summary
Primarily TIG welds light gauge stainless steel, but will also be required to work with other materials like cold rolled steel, galvanized steel, aluminum etc. Must be qualified for occasional heavy metal TIG, and some MIG, Plasma cutting, and/or gas welding.
Essential Functions
- Maintains accurate count of processed parts
- Daily housekeeping in assigned work areas
- Completes written log on work done, hours spent, and number of parts produced
- Ensures that the parts they process are to specification and meet all known quality requirements before and after they complete their process steps
- Report any safety, quality, and waste issues to their immediate supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Able to follow verbal and written instructions
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Able to do basic shop math, read blueprints and use measuring tools such as micrometers, gauges, and dial calipers, etc.
- Knowledge of Lancer Quality Systems preferred
Education and Experience
- High School or GED level education is preferred
- Equivalent experience in assigned trade/vocation can be substituted for educational minimums
- Minimum 3 years' experience setting up, operating and programming press brake, Laser and/or turret punching machines is a plus
- Course work in CNC Programming is a plus

This position is very active and requires standing for up to 8 hours, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and move items up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Employees in this position are required to wear steel or composite-toe boots or shoes when present or working within the manufacturing areas of the facility.
Work Environment
This job operates in a combination of lab and professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The employee is exposed to outside weather conditions at the manufacturing site. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands
Standing, sitting, walking, and bending as needed. Using the proper lifting technique may be required to lift objects up to 30 lbs. May have to reach for object at or above shoulder height. May be required to operate traditional office equipment including computers, copiers, fax machines and telephones.
