Summary
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, modeling, drawing, prototyping, testing, industrializing, and supporting mechanical and electro-mechanical parts, modules, and assemblies for Lancer products and / or associated tooling related to manufacturing, throughout the lifecycle of the products. The position requires highly motivated, extremely organized, and self-driven individuals.
Essential Functions
- Ability to design and document all aspects of mechanical parts and assemblies
- Experience in translating product requirements to engineering design requirements and specifications
- Experience in modeling, designing, prototyping and manufacturing sheet metal
- AC, DC, Main power distribution (panel boards, boxes, and cabinets)
- Interconnect cables, bundles, and connectors (harnessing)
- Electrical boxes, cabinets, user interfaces, interfacing with printed circuit board designs
- Interface with motors, reduction boxes, and other similar devices
- Modeling of flex and rigid PCBs including volumes and critical part locations
- Experience designing electronic enclosure assemblies in plastic and sheet metal
- Experience designing for manufacturability (DFM) and developing assembly work instructions for low to medium volume products
- Experience with 3D solid modeling for design conceptualization and realization (preferred experience using SolidWorks, AUTOCAD, Creo, or similar mechanical CAD tools)
- Experience supporting design fit check during integration & testing of mechanical, electrical & electronic systems at the module, sub-system & system level
- Knowledgeable of industry codes and standards (i.e. NEC, ASME, NFPA, Machine Tool Standards)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education and Experience
BS Engineering with a major in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or similar career. Master is a plus
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets. The employee is exposed to outside weather conditions if out in the manufacturing site. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate.
Physical Demands
Ability to communicate verbally, view security systems, and monitor people entering / exiting the building, sitting, standing, walking, and bending as needed. Using proper lifting technique may be required to lift objects up to 25 lb. with assistance. May have to reach for objects at or above shoulder height. Must be to operate office equipment including computers, copiers, TVs, iPad, and telephones.
