Job Summary:
We are seeking a hardworking and detail-oriented Cemetery Grounds Maintenance Worker to help maintain the appearance, safety, and dignity of the cemetery grounds. This position involves groundskeeping tasks such as mowing, edging, debris removal, and assisting with headstone alignment to ensure the cemetery remains a well-kept and respectful environment for visitors.
Key Responsibilities:Grounds Maintenance:
- Mowing and edging grass around headstones, walkways, and cemetery sections
- Debris removal, including leaves, branches, and litter from grounds and pathways
- Trimming and clearing overgrowth around markers, fences, and curbs
- Spreading grass seed and patching lawn areas as needed
- Headstone & Memorial Alignment:
- Assisting with the alignment and leveling of headstones to maintain a uniform appearance
- Cleaning and maintaining headstones and memorials as directed
- Inspecting headstones for stability and reporting any needed repairs
General Cemetery Upkeep:
- Ensuring pathways, parking areas, and visitor spaces remain clean and accessible
- Assisting with landscaping tasks such as planting and mulching when needed
Following all cemetery safety procedures and maintenance guidelines
Additional Duties:
- Assisting with grave preparations and special maintenance requests
- Performing minor repairs on tools and equipment
- Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or maintenance preferred
- Ability to operate lawnmowers, trimmers, and other maintenance equipment
- Physical stamina to lift heavy objects, bend, stand, and work outdoors in various conditions
- Strong attention to detail to ensure proper headstone alignment and grounds maintenance
Ability to work respectfully and professionally in a cemetery setting
Valid driver’s license (if required for certain job duties)
Work Environment:
Outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Requires lifting, bending, standing, and operating equipment for extended periodsExposure to landscaping materials, grass, dirt, and cleaning products
- Must maintain professionalism and respect for the cemetery environment
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
