Job Description (Required) : POSITION SUMMARY :
s Translational Sciences Group, Translational Pathology Lab in La Jolla, California, is seeking a Scientist (non-PhD) to join the Molecular Biology group. As part of our team, the candidate will support and advance our clinical and pre-clinical drug prorgrams. The candidate will provide scientific and technical support and work closely with their manager and team members to generate decision-enabling data for Client drug combination strategies and mechanisms of action. An ideal candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology and demonstrate experience with 10X Genomics Spatial Transcriptomics platforms. They will use a variety of techniques including RNA extraction, library generation and image capturing.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :
Support 10X Genomics spatial transcriptomic workflows.
Perform sample and library preparation, initial data QC and first pass analysis of results.
Maintain accurate documentation of experiments, protocols, and results.
Support inventory and maintenance.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS :
You will interact closely with colleagues in Translation Pathology IHC and Molecular Biology labs, computational biology, and on-site operational support groups.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
BS / MS in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or a related field and 3 years of full-time, hands-on molecular biology experience in an academic or industrial setting.
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS :
Proficient in standard molecular biology techniques such as sample preparation, nucleic acid amplification and purification (RNA / DNA), and qPCR.
Experience performing complex multi-step experiments with detailed and diligent attention to planning, organization, hands-on technique, and record keeping.
Knowledge of QC metrics, interpretation, and demonstrated use of approaches for assessing the quality of samples and libraries for bulkRNA and spatial profiling
