Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and coaching hourly electricians, mechanics, and maintenance helpers within a union environment to ensure the continuous operation of all production and facilities related equipment. Works collaboratively with all departments to ensure high performance of all equipment through Continuous Improvement initiatives, training of employees and solid understanding of the operation and strategic plan.
How You Will Contribute
- Direct the activities of the maintenance staff with the ability to lead, coach and develop hourly maintenance employees. Great emphasis on building talent through coaching and mentoring and holding the team accountable.
- Promotes a proactive approach for maintaining and improving equipment reliability.
- Interact with plant production management to ensure that production and maintenance work as a team. Strive towards common goal.
- Recommends equipment upgrades and implements upon approval utilizing expertise in the industry.
- Sources parts and materials as needed for daily operation of assigned projects.
- Assist in the design, fabrication and implementation of new equipment.
- Performs building checks to assure proper operation of all building systems.
- Opens up and closes building as needed for weekend and holiday lock up.
- Direct the training of new maintenance employees.
- Coordinates maintenance coverage in cases of vacation, call-off, project work and training.
- Oversee and ensure that all safety procedures are followed in the maintenance department.
