How YOU will contribute
- Quality and Food Safety: Ensure compliance with all quality and food safety programs through adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Red Zone audits, HACCP checks, and product quality assessments.
- Process Improvement: Reduce foreign material through process stability and improvement. Sustain CAPA through process control and root cause analysis tools like 5-Why’s.
- Operational Efficiency: Identify and implement opportunities to enhance plant efficiency, reduce waste, and improve methods and equipment.
- Lean Manufacturing: Execute process improvement and lean manufacturing activities.
- Leadership: Serve as an acting team leader in the absence of the designated leader. Lead by example to promote food safety, employee safety, and quality programs.
- Supervision: Oversee production operations, shifts, and related functions. Communicate changes, monitor quality and safety standards, and lead in challenging situations.
- Culture and Engagement: Promote and reinforce core values and culture. Work towards improving employee engagement and retention.
- Regulatory Compliance: Manage the department to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal processes related to employee safety, food safety, quality, HR, and process controls.
- Performance Metrics: Achieve department performance metrics, including production, yield, efficiencies, and labor utilization.
- Efficiency Planning: Manage labor and line components to meet schedule needs effectively.
About YOU
- Experience: Minimum 4 years in meat processing/food industry experience in lieu of a degree; 2 years with a degree preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s in meat science, food science, business administration, operational management, or a related field preferred.
- Certifications: HACCP Certification, Lean/Six Sigma preferred.
- Knowledge: Food manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Hours: 2pm-12am, weekends as needed.
- Travel: Local and/or overnight travel required (10%).
