Job Title: Barrel Handling Operator
Pay Rate:$25.29 per hour plus Shift Differential:$1.00 per hour
Sign on Bonus:$1500 - $250 paid after 30 days of employment, $500 paid after 6 months of employment, and $750 paid after 12 months of employment
Shift & Working Hours:4:45PM to 5:15 AM; Weekends/Overtime/Holidays as needed
About the Role:
The Barrel Handling Operator is part of our Dairy Food business that creates dairy products with real, simple goodness.
We believe there's power in every drop of milk our farmers produce, and by improving production and finding innovative uses for that milk, we add a little good to people's lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure barrel records, barrel labels, and associated paperwork are accurate and complete
- Disassemble, clean up, and reassemble V-mag, extraction pumps, and barrel fill equipment
- Clean up the barrel fill area
- Operate COP tanks, including cleaner strength monitoring
- Assist with Turbafilm start-up and shutdown, including hook-ups for CIP
- Set up the barrel fill area for production
- Start up and operate the auto-roller system, including V-mag
- Start up, shut down, calibrate, and operate the metal detector and associated documentation
- Barrel closing, weighing, labeling, and forklift transfer and stacking of barrels in cooler
- Inspect and forklift transfer packaging supplies to barrel fill area
- Sampling product for analytical analysis, including maintaining sample spoon sanitizer solution
- Check barrel scale accuracy daily, chart data, and initiate repairs as necessary
- Document waste cheese records
- Clean drains (day shift operator) and complete Master Sanitation items for the AM department
- Lock out pumps/equipment before dismantling and follow other safety procedures
- Participate in and support Safety, LQMS, BRC, LPS, and LMS programs
- Follow all sanitation and quality SOPs to ensure all equipment is clean and ready for production
- Support GMPs
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older
- 1 year or more of work experience in any industry
- Basic computer and math skills
- Able to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions in English
- Willingness to learn new skills, problem-solve, and troubleshoot
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, and always respectful
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds
- Frequent movement, including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing, and other active movements
- Perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment
- Work in temperature zones that include cold and/or hot environments for extended periods, and may include areas where dust and chemicals are present
- Required to work scheduled shifts, which may include weekends, some holidays, and periodic overtime
