Job Summary
The Nurse has overall responsibility for medications, medical issues and services with respect to service participants in the Developmental Training (DT) Program. Provides routine medical care, observes service participants health and communicates concerns to appropriate individuals. Provides medical care to LLGI employees when needed.
Essential Job Duties
Vocational Rehabilitation
- Administers medications to service participants according to written prescriptions on file. Maintains accurate records of medications administered; secures and maintains current and appropriate prescriptions for all medications administered.
- Conducts treatments to day time service participants as prescribed or needed. (i.e., foot and nail care, performing accuchecks and administering eye drops)
- Conducts health assessments for service participants to determine health condition and need for treatment, medication or return home
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationship with residential providers and families regarding service participants medical or medication issues
- Provides emergency and first responder first aid to service participants
- Ensures effective ongoing relationships with residential providers to ensure account retention; ensures service delivery consistent with quality objectives and requirements
- Transports service participants as needed
- Maintains knowledge of industry trends, policies and procedures
- Communicates the organizations mission, vision, values and promotes diversity
- Demonstrates leadership and serves as a positive role model for staff
- Effectively manages time to ensure that work is completed
- Builds trust by interacting with others in a way that gives them confidence
- Contributes to the implementation of change management efforts

Education, Experience and Credentials
- Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse or RN possessing current registration by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Requires valid Illinois drivers license, good driving record and proof of insurance
- Requires use of company vehicle to transport service participants and/or equipment
- Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality of information related to LLGI service participants, operations, financial matters and personnel matters

Physical Requirements
- Works in a light industrial/warehouse environment with exposure to heat and cold
- Subject to exposure to bodily fluids and blood borne pathogens
- Subject to exposure to allergens including dirt, dust, mold, metals, rubber, plastics, latex, and pet hair
- Requires the ability to perform a combination of tasks for extended periods such as stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, reaching, carrying, pushing or pulling objects
- Physical stamina and strength to lift and or carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds
- Stands for long periods of time throughout the day
- Requires the ability to reach by extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
Environmental Conditions
Fast paced environment with short deadlines and regular instances of critical or unusual situations.
Requires ability to work in a light industrial/warehouse setting with moderate exposure to heat, cold, dirt, dust, pet hair, mold, metals, rubber, plastics, latex, and other allergens.
Subject to work in an office, light warehouse, store showroom and surrounding grounds setting.
Tools and Equipment
Basic medical equipment including blood pressure monitors and accuchecks; basic office equipment including computer, A/V equipment, calculator, photocopier, scanner, telephone, and training aids. Company vehicle.
